Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager serves as the senior HR leader for the Shelbyville Technical Center, a rapidly growing automotive manufacturing operation. The position partners with site leadership and supports more than 25 managers and supervisors across seven business units. The HR Manager leads workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, HR operations, leadership development, and continuous improvement while building scalable practices that support facility launch and growth toward approximately 400+ employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

• Serve as the primary HR advisor to site leadership and align workforce strategies with launch milestones, production needs, organizational growth, and long term business objectives.
• Advise leaders on organizational structure, staffing, employee performance, policy interpretation, workplace concerns, and employment decisions.

Workforce Planning and Talent Acquisition

• Lead workforce planning, recruiting, selection, offers, preemployment requirements, and onboarding for non exempt, technical, professional, and leadership roles.
• Manage purchased service recruiters, forecast staffing needs with department leaders, and monitor hiring progress, vacancies, turnover, and time to fill.

Employee Relations and Performance Management

• Lead employee relations for total workforce, including investigations, conflict resolution, coaching, corrective action, performance improvement, and disciplinary decisions.
• Promote fair and consistent practices while identifying trends and recommending actions that improve attendance, accountability, engagement, morale, and retention.

Policy Compliance and Risk Management

• Develop and maintain site HR policies, procedures, forms, and documentation standards in accordance with company requirements and applicable employment laws.
• Provide guidance on wage and hour, leave, accommodation, equal employment opportunity, employment eligibility, recordkeeping, unemployment, workers compensation, and related matters.

HR Operations, Payroll and Benefits

• Oversee personnel records, HR systems, timekeeping, attendance administration, employment changes, payroll coordination, benefit support, leave administration, and employee communications.
• Support accurate schedules, timecards, premiums, overtime, and payroll changes through ADP Workforce Now and PLEX, and resolve discrepancies with payroll and site leaders.

Talent and Leadership Development

• Identify development needs and coordinate training for employees and leaders in employee relations, documentation, attendance, interviewing, performance management, timekeeping, and policy administration.
• Support performance assessments, versatility training, succession planning, internal advancement, leadership coaching, and organizational change initiatives.

HR Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop the site HR team; establish clear responsibilities, priorities, & performance measures
• Manage recruiting partners, benefit providers, and other HR vendors for quality, responsiveness, compliance, and cost effectiveness.

Continuous Improvement and Culture

• Apply Lean principles, workforce metrics, dashboards, communication boards, and digital workflows to improve HR service delivery and support sound business decisions.
• Promote a respectful, inclusive, safe, and performance oriented culture through visible floor presence, employee communication, recognition, engagement, and cross functional partnership.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, Organizational Development, or a related field.
• Seven or more years of progressive HR experience, including at least three years of HR leadership, management, or significant HR business partner responsibility.
• Experience supporting a manufacturing, automotive, distribution, engineering, or similarly fast paced operating environment.
• Demonstrated experience in employee relations, investigations, recruiting, policy development, compliance, performance management, and HR operations.
• Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and experience with HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, and applicant tracking systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and decision making skills, with the ability to manage sensitive matters confidentially.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related discipline or SHRM CP, SHRM SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
• Experience leading HR activities during a new facility launch, major expansion, or organizational transformation.
• Automotive manufacturing and multi shift workforce experience.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now, PLEX, Lean HR processes, workforce dashboards, and digital workflows.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in office and manufacturing environments, with regular presence on the plant floor and required PPE in designated areas.
• The role supports multiple shifts and may require occasional extended hours or weekend availability based on operational or employee relations needs.
