Regulatory Analyst

Job DutiesThe duties may include, but are not limited to:Writes notices, proposed, interim, and final regulations (dockets) and related materials for APHIS programs and rewrites these documents based on edits and input from reviewers.Writes and edits often highly specialized or technical documents that may cover any of the regulatory programs in which APHIS is engaged.Uses meetings with program staff, program manuals, memoranda, and other verbal and written statements of program policies, objectives, and procedures to determine the basic need for content and the scope of new regulations.Reviews Agency rules, regulations, and related policy directives to ensure that they are within the scope of the Agency's statutory authority.Reviews incoming regulatory workplans and supporting documentation for completeness accuracy, internal consistency, and consistency with applicable precedent.Serves as a point of contact for new employees to assist them in drafting in conformance with precedent and the standards of the Federal Register Document Drafting Handbook, and the Government Printing Office (GPO) Style Manual.
