Supplier Quality Engineer III

This job is responsible for coordinating suppliers and verifying quality standards in accordance with the requirements of Sanden organization. This job involves supporting the Sanden production line by development of Suppliers and ensuring product quality. Principle Duties/Essential Functions: Manage the supply chain, serve as the liaison for suppliers, and collaborate with purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory departments in a team environment. suggest structural quality and process improvements. Monitor supplier Performance, Corrective Action, Supplier Quality Ranking, and report to management. Assist in the development and implementation of supplier management programs. Responsible for investigating, analyzing and correcting problems in quality, production, and control at a supplier location. Ensure that Sanden’s part quality requirements are communicated promptly to the assigned suppliers and products coming in from assigned suppliers meet the set quality goals. Teach quality principles, systems, measurement, and statistical techniques as appropriate to achieve desired levels of supplier development. Strive to achieve the targets set forth by the department manager to meet company goals and objectives. Other Tasks/Responsibilities: Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies Participate in SQ monthly meeting and preparing monthly report for Management. Projects as assigned by department supervisor. Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities. Manage supplier PPM, Supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and supplier problem solving on time. Ensure that all technical matters between suppliers and Sanden are addressed in a timely manner. Keep up with current and developing manufacturing & engineering trends that concern product quality. Manage process that work to resolve part quality problems. Aid in disposition of non-conforming product Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non‐conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems. Identify and record any problems relating to the product process and quality system. Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels. Verify the implementation of solutions. Complete supplier rating reports, aid in analysis and development of improvement action plans, per the APEX system requirements Teach quality principles, systems, measurement, and statistical techniques as appropriate to achieve desired levels of supplier development. Responsible for overseeing parts validations, both for new parts and revalidations as per customer’s requirements. This includes determining the correct PPAP level necessary for validations and ensuring all relevant documents (PSW’s, CP, FMEA’s, Process Flow Diagrams, CQI, Supplier Assessments (both self‑assessments and SIA assessments) Laboratory Certifications, MSA’s, Dimensional Results, Material Tests, Material Certifications) are kept current. Responsible for monitoring parts issues on the line and issuing and managing corrective actions (8D’s / D0’s) to suppliers, as necessary. This includes reviewing defects in the SRA area. Participation in the APQP, VAVE and Change Control process. Providing / Updating Inspection Standards for Incoming Inspection. Understand technical drawings and specifications and write inspection standards & procedures for parts. Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement. Establish specific short / long term supplier quality goals. Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non‑conformances. Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply. Develop long‑term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas. Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability. Consistently meeting Sanden requirements. Projects may include process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6‑Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events. Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base. If business awarded, reduce gap found during supplier audit. Perform Process Sign‑Off or Run Rate studies. Specify, coordinate, review and approve PPAP. Coach supplier for PPAP Critical Thinking Technical Knowledge Organizational Skills Decision Making Innovative Thinking Education: Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in quality or manufacturing related field with a minimum of 7 years work experience, 5 of which is as required in this job. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies A minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of Quality, preferably in the automotive industry, 5 of which shall be in the field as required by this job. Practical knowledge (demonstrated by minimum of 7 years of effective participation) in: Process planning, set‑up, and control of common manufacturing processes such as – Die casting, Machining, Metal/Plastic/Rubber forming, Heat treatment and automotive component assemblies. Knowledge of good manufacturing practices in above processes Practical knowledge (demonstrated by minimum of 5 years of effective use) in the following disciplines: GD & T, Measurement methods, MSA, SPC, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, Problem solving techniques, Variance analysis and reduction, IATF16949 and ISO9000:2015 quality systems, process, and system auditing principles. Exposure to the automotive industry and requirements. Familiar to Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) standards Advanced MS Excel knowledge, Power Point, BPCS, Minitab, Solid Works Good presentation skills and an excellent statistical analysis ability Understanding of project management (experience preferred) Work well with diverse groups of people. Able to function independently of direct supervision. Licenses or Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Preferred Certified auditor Preferred. Certified Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing Preferred Physical Demands: Ability to work effectively under pressure. Some occasional lifting (up to limits prescribed by OSHA) may be involved. Continuously meets short deadlines while maintaining technical quality of the results.
