Assistant Controller

Assistant Logistics Controller Reports to the Logistics Controller. Responsible for supporting the logistics accounting department, ensuring general ledger compliance with GAAP, assisting monthly closing, financial reporting, audits, budget process, variance explanations, reconciliations, and workflow review. Key Duties and Responsibilities Participate actively in the month‑end close process, handling accounts and analyses and supervising others. Maintain the general ledger for the logistics department. Prepare monthly and year‑to‑date internal financial statements. Prepare and review key account reconciliations. Generate logistics department budget and expense analysis reports; manage specific areas of the annual budget process. Ensure compliance with the company’s internal financial control policies and procedures. Assist with interim and year‑end audits, coordinating among departments and interacting with internal and external auditors. Represent the company professionally, upholding the highest ethical standards. Provide support on other projects as assigned or requested. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the logistics accounting team. Oversee interviewing, hiring, and training of employees. Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems. Work Conditions Travel may be required, but infrequently. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate’s degree required. Majors in accounting, finance, or supply chain preferred. Experience 4+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in manufacturing or logistics. Certifications and Knowledge CPA or CMA certifications preferred but not required. Working knowledge of GAAP and ERP systems such as SAP required. Competencies Financial accuracy – maintain G/L and internal statements with zero margin for error. Deadline orientation – disciplined approach to timely month‑end close and year‑end audits. Analytical reasoning – prepare variance explanations and account reconciliations. Ethical integrity – professional conduct representing the company’s highest ethical standards. Cross‑functional collaboration – coordinate effectively among departments for audits.
