Executive Talent Advisor
Blue Shield of California
Looking for a chance to do meaningful work that touches millions? Come join the hardest working, nonprofit health plan in California and help us shape the future of health care. Blue Shield of California is focused on transforming health care by making it more accessible, affordable, and customer‑centric. Being a mission‑driven organization means we do more than serve our 3.5 million members: we were the first health plan in the nation to limit our annual net income to 2% of revenue and return the difference to our customers and the community, and since 2005 we have contributed more than $1 million to the Blue Shield of California Foundation to improve community health and end domestic violence. We also believe that a healthier California begins with our employees, so we provide them with resources to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle through our award‑winning wellness program, Wellvolution. Description We are looking for an Executive Talent Advisor/Recruiter who has a passion and exceptional ability to identify, assess, and attract the best‑in‑class talent to work in the transformative health care industry. The Executive Talent Advisor plays a critical role in placing top talent who have a significant impact on the business and leads others to continue moving the Blue Shield of California (BSC) mission forward and shape the future of health care. This individual will be a strategic talent partner to senior executives and fully own, influence, and drive the executive search for senior level roles (Director and up) across the entire organization. The Executive Talent Advisor is a forward and enterprise thinker who understands the payor/insurance business well and will develop proactive strategies that align with our leadership model and ensure we have the best leaders in place to achieve our mission and business goals. S/he will also focus on cultivating a broad and diverse talent pool for long‑term business needs, and develop/drive initiatives and programs to continue building our leadership and employment brand. Opportunity The Executive Talent Advisor will develop and deploy strategic executive recruiting hiring plans at an enterprise level that closely align with our leadership model, human capital plans, and business goals. In strong partnership with HR Business Partners and other colleagues, the advisor will work closely with executive hiring managers to understand their specific hiring needs, business objectives, and profile requirements—translating them into highly effective sourcing, recruiting, and closing strategies. What You Will Do Fully own and drive the full lifecycle of the executive search process—from partnering with executive management on position definition, search strategy, and candidate requirements, to developing and executing recruiting strategies, and managing offers and negotiations. Story‑tell the Blue Shield of CA brand and mission with authenticity and position our opportunities strategically within the marketplace and industry to prospective talent. Leverage best‑in‑class recruiting practices and strategies to identify, assess, attract, and close on talent. Translate profile requirements into an effective sourcing/recruiting strategy using executive search, direct sourcing, personal networking, online postings, referrals, and other best practices. Screen, qualify, and interview candidates—providing guidance and critical insights throughout the process. Develop innovative ways to raise the bar on how BSC recruits leadership talent. Build a talent network and perform market research, tapping knowledgeable industry sources to develop an ongoing pool of candidates. Serve as a senior talent advisor and partner to executive hiring managers and other members of the HR community to determine current and future executive talent needs. Collaborate closely with HRBPs and Total Rewards to streamline processes and achieve operational efficiencies. Qualifications Who You Are Articulate: Excellent oral and written communication; able to engage senior executives and candidates in a polished, compelling, and influential manner. Sharp: Perceptive and able to think on your feet. Able to assess candidates' capability, leadership competencies, cultural fit, and other compatibility issues critical to success. Subject Matter Expert/Talent Advisor. Strong ability to understand a hiring manager’s stated requirements, and formulate a clear value proposition that attracts the caliber of candidate we need. Maintain in‑depth, up‑to‑date knowledge of top executives, companies, competitive industries, and have a strong grasp of industry trends and external factors that impact the talent landscape for BSC. Innovative: Learn new domains quickly and understand how to develop effective and creative sourcing/recruiting strategies. Keep up on latest trends and best practices in talent acquisition to continuously push the talent bar and deliver stellar results. Credible: Subject matter expert with a natural ability to build credibility quickly with executive‑level hiring managers by utilizing deep external talent market knowledge to consult and guide their talent strategy. Nimble: Skilled in navigating fast‑paced, demanding, and highly ambiguous environments—able to adapt repertoire and approach appropriately. Expert negotiator: Strong understanding of executive compensation and skilled in analyzing and reconciling differences/gaps. Collaborative: Enjoy working independently yet within a team and understand the importance of teamwork and strong partnership with colleagues to achieve desired outcomes. Leadership: Self‑assured yet humble and eager to learn; lead by example, coach, and mentor others on effective executive search methodologies and best practices. Cultivation: Exceptional ability to build and cultivate influential relationships with executive candidates to create a broad and diverse talent pool for short‑ and long‑term talent needs. Prioritization: Proven track record of managing competing priorities with patience and professionalism; possess impeccable attention to detail. Education/Requirements Bachelor’s Degree plus at least 3–5 years of progressive experience in a combination of agency and in‑house executive search roles. PHR/SPHR and/or Master’s Degree preferred. Will consider non‑executive experience with a proven track record of success and demonstrated abilities to work with senior leaders and candidates. Ability to work full‑time on‑site in our corporate office in San Francisco. Flexible to work outside of standard office hours. #J-18808-Ljbffr Blue Shield of California
