About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must have ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. Candidates must have neuro and trauma care experience. Description: This position is for a Progressive Care Unit. The unit has 44 beds and 95 staff members. The night shift grid consists of 2 charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 health unit coordinator. The patient ratios are 4:1 at grid and 5:1 when stretched. The equipment used in the unit includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and patient lifts. Electronic medical records are managed using Cerner. The typical hiring profile includes candidates with neuro and trauma care experience. Typical procedures performed on the unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump usage, IV infusions, lumbar drain procedures, and feeding tube placements. Blood transfusions are also conducted as necessary. The ideal personality fit is a team player who is patient-focused. Floating areas may include stepdown units and medical-surgical units. The dress code for the unit is navy blue scrubs. Staff are expected to work every other weekend.
