About the Role We are seeking a senior Core Java Engineer to support a large-scale modernization effort across rates eTrading pricing and execution platforms within a global markets environment. The role focuses on understanding, decomposing, and enhancing a mature pricing platform while supporting the incremental migration of pricing functionality into a newer strategic architecture. Engineers will work on complex pricing workflows involving graph-based calculator frameworks, event-driven processing, multithreaded execution, and bidirectional integration between legacy and strategic pricing components. This position requires a hands‑on engineer who can reverse engineer sparsely documented systems, make safe tactical changes to business‑critical platforms, and help preserve a seamless trader experience throughout the migration. The ideal candidate combines deep Core Java engineering, strong architecture skills, and familiarity with fixed income pricing, quantitative workflows, or enterprise trading systems. Key Responsibilities Reverse engineer and enhance a mature Core Java pricing platform supporting rates eTrading workflows. Decompose legacy pricing functionality into components that can be migrated incrementally to a strategic platform. Modify existing pricing engines so selected inputs can be routed to downstream calculators and returned to trader-facing workflows. Develop and support integrations between legacy pricing components, external pricing services, market data, and user interface layers. Work within graph-based calculator frameworks involving Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs), calculation cycles, and dependent pricing outputs. Ensure thread safety, resiliency, and performance across event-driven, heavily multithreaded pricing applications. Support pricing calculations, curve generation, input/output management, and high-volume processing across large instrument sets. Partner with trading technology, quantitative, and platform teams to translate pricing requirements into engineered solutions. Contribute to modernization planning, technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and production stability throughout the migration lifecycle. Required Skills and Experience 7+ years of professional Java software engineering experience, with strong Core Java expertise. Proven experience building, enhancing, or supporting complex enterprise trading, pricing, risk, or financial technology platforms. Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, maintainability, and large-scale system modernization. Experience reverse engineering legacy systems with limited documentation and safely implementing changes in production environments. Hands‑on experience with event-driven systems, concurrent programming, multithreading, and thread-safety considerations. Ability to work with complex data flows where outputs from one calculation become inputs into downstream calculations. Experience integrating applications with enterprise services, APIs, market data, analytics libraries, or calculation engines. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate independently in a technically complex environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with fixed income, rates, bonds, pricing engines, curve construction, or eTrading platforms. Familiarity with graph-based or DAG-based pricing frameworks, calculator orchestration, or dependency-driven computation models. Exposure to in-house or vendor-supplied analytics libraries used within capital markets technology. Experience modernizing monolithic applications or migrating functionality from legacy platforms to strategic architectures. DevOps experience across build, deployment, monitoring, observability, and production support tooling. Experience working directly with traders, quants, or front-office technology stakeholders.
