Metallurgical Lab Tech I - 2nd Shift 1:30pm-10:00pm Company: Allfast Fastening Systems LLC Primary Location: 15200 Don Julian Road, City of Industry, CA 91745 USA Workplace Type: On-site Employment Type: Hourly | Full-Time Function: Quality Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled Main Duties & Responsibilities Technician I is responsible for performing testing of setup and in-process parts using metallurgical laboratory equipment, precision measuring tools and gages. Ensuring all inspection and test equipment are within calibration prior to use. This role supports the quality needs of the business and adheres to Allfast Fastening System's AS9100 Quality Management System and NADCAP Accreditations. Qualifications Read, interpret and execute applicable procedures, specifications, and work instructions. Ensure all test equipment and materials are maintained in good working condition and that calibration is current. Ensure safety and personal protective equipment are followed. Perform preventive maintenance, document results, and report nonconforming conditions. Perform setup and in-process dimensional examinations, documenting results. Prepare metallographic samples (sectioning, mounting, grinding/polishing, etching) and maintain etchants. Evaluate and document metallographic mounts. Support internal and external audits as directed by the Quality Manager. Participate in internal round robin and proficiency tests. Assist with tracking of consumable supplies inventory and identify cost‑reduction opportunities. Maintain knowledge of internal quality and lab procedures related to inspections, testing, manufacturing operations, NADCAP, and AS9100. Properly store and maintain quality records and retained laboratory samples. Understand and demonstrate commitment to company quality and safety. Perform other duties and projects as assigned by department leadership. Must be able to work weekends and extended hours at month and quarter ends. Competencies Language: Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports. Mathematical: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Reasoning: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and perform complex duties requiring independent judgment. Blueprint reading: Interpret blueprints. Other: Skilled in using metallurgical equipment (cut‑off saw, bench lathe, automatic grinders, polishers, metallographic microscopes, micro‑hardness tester, plating thickness machine). Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers. Computer: Literate in spreadsheet and word processing software. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing organization. Zero to three (0‑3) years mechanical/metallurgical/metallographic laboratory experience (preferably in an aerospace fastener manufacturing environment). Physical Demands Stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear. Sit and reach with hands and arms. Walk, kneel or crouch occasionally. Lift up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Compensation 2nd shift differential: $19.00 - $29.86 per hour. Compensation can vary depending on qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for additional incentives such as equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
