Retail Equipment Services Technician

Overview The Equipment Services Tech is responsible for building, maintaining, inspecting and repairing all product purchased and serviced through the service department for specialized equipment. In addition, the core responsibilities within the shop include being fully trained in sales and register functionality to help deliver the elevated experience athletes expect when visiting our House of Sport location. The job duties and responsibilities of this role include the following: Technical Requirements Assembles, maintains and repairs action sports equipment in accordance with company and vendor standards. Assists with everyday services, including but not limited to: Bike: minor to advanced repairs; repairing/replacing parts; fitting accessories (lights, pannier racks or cycle computers); routine safety checks; cleaning, degreasing and lubricating bicycles and components, etc. Snow Equipment: base cleaning, sharpening, waxing, brushing, polishing and preparation, detuning tips/tails. Diagnoses faults, damage and wear to give accurate estimates to athletes, and educates them on whether repairs are essential or recommended. Assembles new equipment and partners with lead to perform quality checks before handing off to the explorer. Sales Floor Responsibility Understands athletes’ behavior, can successfully assess needs and recommend product/service that meets those specific needs. Supports company standards of selling and customer service by providing a friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every athlete and maintaining solid product knowledge. Assists and recommends athletes with the purchase of accessories, as needed. Operations Identifies and informs management of ways to improve shop workflow, growing productivity while maintaining or improving quality of services. Preserves complete and accurate shop records and maintains record‑keeping systems. Performs all other tasks assigned by management. Qualifications Excellent bicycle assembly skills. Ability to adjust to priorities and manage time wisely. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork. Ability to communicate effectively. Targeted Pay Range: $18.50 - $25.50. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience and position offered.
