Product Specialist

The Product Specialist is a product technical resource for the market sales team, supporting all Axalta products across Premium, Mainstream, and Economy segments to promote growth and customer loyalty. This remote‑based role is ideally located in Connecticut and covers Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York State, requiring up to 75% travel. Key Responsibilities Develops, trains and supports distributor personnel to meet collision shop customers’ needs, including new products, technical support, training availability, and value‑added programs. Trains and certifies painters, leads new customer installations, and troubleshoots technical issues using all Axalta brands, technologies, and processes. Conducts education events such as refinisher meetings, lunch & learns, WOW sessions, and counter clinics to guide optimization of paint and material system performance and profitability. Demonstrates safety awareness, emphasizes safe product application and personal protective equipment, and serves as a role model for customers. Collaborates with market teams, supports market activities, and actively contributes ideas during market meetings. Completes and participates in all ongoing trainings, assessments, and certifications for Axalta brands and technologies. Uses Axalta paint and material account‑management tools to support key accounts and reinforces the technical support network with shop personnel. Manages overall selling expense within the designated budget. Stays current with industry trends and association activities. Maintains a flexible schedule, willingness to travel, and demonstrates teamwork with peers and other resources to meet customer needs. Job Requirements High School Diploma (preferred); minimum of 5 years of industry experience. Valid Driver’s License. Good computer skills, proficient with e‑mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Strong sense of urgency; able to prioritize work effectively. Understanding of body shop operations and application equipment. Effective written, oral communication, and presentation skills. Strong problem‑solving, time‑management, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a high‑performance sales team. Ability to sell, influence, and negotiate with customers. Good interpersonal skills and respect for people’s differences. Self‑motivated and effective performer with minimal supervision. Professional appearance across all organizational levels. Business background or acumen with strong customer focus. Effective internal networking and relationship building with customers.
