Phlebotomist

Location: Saint Petersburg, FL | Schedule: Contract, full-time, on-site, 6am-2:30pm M-F | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist to support laboratory operations for a contract engagement with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection, handling, and patient service within a fast-paced clinical environment. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) as required Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and communicate laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Minimum of 1 year of experience Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Why this role This is a contract opportunity with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for permanent placement, offering hands-on experience in a fast-paced clinical laboratory setting. #J-18808-Ljbffr
