Patient Access Coordinator The Patient Access Specialist/Coordinator (PAS) demonstrates a solid knowledge of the registration process. PAS Specialist is responsible for obtaining all accurate demographic and financial information, completing any and all registrations. Corrects selection of insurance coding and insurance descriptions using tools such as the Rolodex in SMS, Matrixes for contracted medical groups and the Internet; completes all Status Transfers; ensures correct room placement for patients; and runs and accepts the HDX reports on all insurances that apply. Additionally, this role obtains and ensures that all necessary notification, authorizations, verification of benefits and tracking numbers for all accounts/insurances are obtained.
