As a Senior Design Engineer, you will contribute to Wenger Corporation’s strategy to provide an exceptional customer experience by leading new product development, product improvement, and cost reduction projects through project leadership, evaluation of customer requirements, concept development, and product design. At a minimum, you’ll need:Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural EngineeringFive (5) years of progressive product engineering experienceIt’d be great if you also have:SolidWorks experienceProficiency with finite element analysis (FEA) software and stress calculationsAbility to conceptualize, formulate design possibilities and coordinate development by the project team under time and financial constraintsCommitment to effective project leadership, coordination, and evaluation, with recommendations for changes required to improve overall resultsMusic or theater background or interestAs a Senior Design Engineer, a typical day might include:Assuming a substantial role in developing detailed customer requirements and corresponding product functional requirements in collaboration with the Product ManagerProviding effective leadership to multifunctional project teams to help accomplish the goals of the project Stimulating development of ideas for new products, product improvements and cost reductionsConducting engineering analysis with respect to strength calculations, design layout, fits and tolerances, and CAD modeling as requiredReviewing code compliance of custom products used in various locationsOverseeing accelerated product life cycle tests and evaluates field testing and potential misuse of products Providing complete, documented product and engineering specifications, working closely with cross-functional teamsProviding support for new manufacturing processes on products of responsibilityProviding guidance for drafting and modelling by others in new product development.
