Program Director

Program Director, Strategic Partnership (NHL – Building Automation) This senior leader will shape and execute a multi‑year partnership between Honeywell and the National Hockey League (NHL). The partnership aims to modernize and optimize building automation and energy management across roughly 5,000 hockey venues in North America, creating resilient, energy‑efficient arenas and community rinks that deliver world‑class experiences for fans and stakeholders. Responsibilities Partnership Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and drive a long‑term strategic plan that aligns with Honeywell’s building automation and sustainability objectives and the NHL’s venue modernization goals. Define a multi‑year roadmap with milestones to scale advanced solutions across professional arenas, practice facilities, and community rinks. Executive Relationship Management: Serve as the primary executive‑level relationship manager, cultivating trust and shared vision with NHL and Honeywell senior leaders, acting as spokesperson and advocate, and communicating progress and value to stakeholders. Commercial Alignment & Value Creation: Deliver mutual value and ROI, identify new revenue opportunities, and align initiatives with broader commercial objectives. Negotiate and structure partnership agreements, investments, and joint initiatives to drive sustainable business results. Program Governance & Performance Management: Establish a robust governance structure, including joint steering committees, operating reviews, and risk management. Define clear KPIs (energy efficiency, cost savings, operational performance, satisfaction) and use data‑driven practices to monitor progress and mitigate risks. Cross‑Functional Execution: Lead and coordinate teams across engineering, product, services, sales, marketing, and operations to deliver partnership commitments, ensuring on‑time delivery, high quality, and achievement of targeted outcomes such as improved operational efficiency and fan experiences. Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Champion innovation by identifying opportunities for new technology integrations (e.g., AI‑driven energy management, "Rink of the Future") and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement based on feedback and emerging trends. Communication & Reporting: Provide regular executive updates on status, achievements, risks, and strategic recommendations. Prepare high‑impact reports for business reviews, town halls, and external communications, highlighting partnership benefits. Qualifications Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field. 10–15 years of progressive experience in program management, strategic partnerships, or business development, including at least 5 years in building automation, energy management, or smart buildings. Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of building automation, energy efficiency technologies, and operational needs of large‑scale facilities such as sports arenas. Partnership & Deal Track Record: Proven experience leading complex strategic partnerships or large‑scale programs, negotiating and executing multi‑year agreements that delivered revenue growth, cost savings, or innovation milestones. Program Leadership: Success in leading cross‑functional teams in a matrix environment, with program governance, project management frameworks, and performance measurement at scale. Stakeholder Management: Strong executive‑level stakeholder management skills, capable of engaging, influencing, and building trust with C‑suite leaders and external partners. Travel: Willingness to travel 20–30% of the time across North America to NHL partner sites and Honeywell offices. Salary & Benefits The annual base salary range for this position is $220,000–$276,000.
