Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg|Tele

This RN provides medical-surgical care with continuous telemetry monitoring for patients at risk for cardiac events or rhythm disturbances. The role emphasizes rapid assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, and coordination with the care team to prevent deterioration.

Responsibilities

• Perform continuous or intermittent telemetry monitoring and interpret rhythm changes.
• Assess clinical status, respond to alerts, and escalate promptly.
• Administer medications and therapies, including IV medications and cardiac drugs as ordered.
• Conduct wound care, dressing changes, and basic procedures; manage IV lines and central lines as assigned.
• Coordinate care with physicians, respiratory therapists, and case managers; participate in rounds and discharge planning.
• Document care in the EHR and ensure accurate charting of assessments and interventions.
• Educate patients and families on condition management and treatment plans.
• Support transition to home or next level of care with appropriate referrals.

Qualifications

Education: ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.

Licensure: Current RN license valid in the state of employment.

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ACLS or telemetry certification preferred

Experience or Skills: Experience on a med-surg unit with telemetry; strong observation, documentation, and patient education skills.

Experience

• Med-surg with telemetry experience
• Experience with electrocardiogram monitoring and IV therapy

Preferred

• BSN preferred
• Telemetry or cardiac care certifications

Work Environment

General inpatient unit with cardiac monitoring capabilities; multidisciplinary rounds and progressive care integration. Shift patterns may include days, evenings, or nights; documentation occurs in an integrated EHR system.
