Inventory Control Attendant
Job Description
The Inventory Control Attendant is responsible for supporting material handling, inventory control, and production operations within a manufacturing environment. This position requires the ability to follow written work procedures, engineering drawings, and verbal and written instructions to accurately track, organize, prepare, and move materials.
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in at least five (5) of the following Material Control functions:
- Kitting: Accurately picks required parts and materials from pick lists and organizes them into complete kits for production.
- Warehousing: Performs shipping, receiving, stocking, and general warehouse functions while maintaining accurate documentation. Conducts cycle counts, maintains proper shelf locations, and keeps warehouse areas organized.
- Inventory Systems: Uses the company's inventory management system to verify inventory levels, research transactions, and process or review material transfers, issues, and receipts.
- Problem Solving: Investigates inventory and material discrepancies, identifies potential causes, reconciles differences, and clearly documents findings.
- Production Support: Supports production by locating and expediting required materials, monitoring material availability, and identifying and tracking shortages, discrepancies, or damaged goods.
- Material Handling & Equipment Operation: Safely operates material-handling equipment, including forklifts and cab- and pendant-operated overhead cranes, to transport materials of various sizes. Responsibilities may include loading and unloading trailer trucks.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in material control, inventory, stockroom, warehouse, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Ability to accurately follow written procedures, drawings, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to use basic hand tools, including tape measures, hammers, and nails.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Working knowledge of English measurement systems and ability to learn the Metric system.
- Basic arithmetic skills with strong counting and inventory accuracy.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in an active manufacturing environment.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders as required.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
