Postdoctoral Associate

Position Overview DIMACS (Center for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science) invites applications for postdoctoral associate positions for 2026-2028. The postdoc will be mentored by a faculty member at Rutgers or a DIMACS partner institution, and participate in a wide variety of activities at DIMACS while working on an original research program. Topics include but are not limited to artificial intelligence, computing theory (algorithms, complexity), data science, statistics, discrete mathematics (graph theory, combinatorics), game theory, machine learning, optimization, privacy, and security. Responsibilities Conduct research in one or more of the following areas: Artificial intelligence and machine learning Computing theory such as algorithms and complexity Data science and statistics Discrete mathematics: graph theory, combinatorics Game theory and optimization Privacy and security Applications to biology, robotics, cyber&physical security, economics, voting, engineering, ecology, sociology, epidemiology, sustainability, and computational social choice Collaborate with DIMACS members and visitors, and participate in all research and educational activities of DIMACS. Qualifications Minimum Education: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related field completed within the last three years. Preferred: Recent Ph.D. graduates who have demonstrated technical excellence in discrete mathematics, theoretical computer science, data science, AI, or related fields. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated technical excellence within the relevant areas of discrete mathematics, theoretical computer science, data science, AI, and related disciplines.
