Position Summary

Buckley Cable Construction is seeking dependable and motivated Ground Hands to join our aerial telecommunications construction crews in the Jacksonville and Miami markets.

The Ground Hand works alongside linemen and other construction crew members to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial telecommunications infrastructure. This is a hands-on, outdoor position that requires physical work, teamwork, attention to safety, and the ability to work in varying weather and field conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist linemen and other crew members with daily aerial telecommunications construction activities.

• Support the installation and maintenance of fiber optic, coaxial cable, strand, anchors, hardware, and related equipment.

• Prepare tools, materials, and equipment needed for daily construction activities.

• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.

• Maintain an organized and safe work area.

• Assist with setting up and securing active construction work zones.

• Handle and stage cable, strand, hardware, and construction materials.

• Operate hand and power tools as directed.

• Assist crews with pulling, placing, and securing telecommunications cable.

• Follow instructions from the Foreman, Lineman, and Field Supervisor.

• Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles.

• Follow Buckley Cable Construction safety policies and customer requirements.

• Work safely around vehicles, equipment, utility poles, traffic, and active construction areas.

• Perform other field construction duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous construction, utility, telecommunications, landscaping, or other outdoor labor experience is preferred but not required.

• Experience with aerial telecommunications or CATV construction is a plus.

• Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors throughout the workday.

• Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.

• Comfortable working around utility poles, bucket trucks, construction equipment, and active job sites.

• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.

• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• Ability to pass required pre-employment screening.

• Willingness to work overtime, evenings, or weekends when required by project schedules.

• Ability to travel within the assigned market as needed.

Work Environment

This is a field-based construction position. Employees should be prepared to work outdoors in Florida weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and rain. The position involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying materials, and performing physical construction activities throughout the workday.

Locations

We are currently hiring Ground Hands for our:

Jacksonville Area
Supporting telecommunications construction projects throughout Jacksonville and surrounding North Florida areas.

Miami Area
Supporting telecommunications construction projects throughout Miami-Dade and surrounding South Florida areas.
