Accounting Manager

Overview A professional services organization based in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations and lead core financial functions. This role partners closely with leadership and plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and supporting operational efficiency across the organization. Responsibilities Oversee the full client billing cycle, including pre‑bills, invoice generation, edits, write‑offs, and final submission Ensure billing accuracy and compliance with client guidelines, engagement terms, and contract requirements Partner with internal stakeholders to review time entries, resolve billing discrepancies, and ensure timely submissions Monitor accounts receivable aging and lead collections efforts to improve cash flow Maintain and reconcile client‑related accounts in accordance with industry‑specific compliance requirements Support day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll coordination, cash management, and general ledger activity Assist with month‑end and year‑end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP and internal policies Review and approve vendor payments, ensuring proper authorization and coding Prepare billing analyses and financial reports for leadership Train internal teams on billing procedures, timekeeping protocols, and financial processes Support process improvements, system enhancements, and ad hoc financial projects Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a professional services environment Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting functions (GL, close, reconciliations) Experience with complex billing operations, including client‑specific requirements and collections management Exposure to trust or regulated account management preferred Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial reporting tools Experience with ERP or accounting systems; exposure to industry‑specific platforms is a plus Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem‑solving skills Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across teams Law Firm experience preferred EEO Statement Beacon Hill is an equal opportunity employer and individuals with disabilities and/or protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
