What You Will Do


As a part of the Department of Fire & Emergency Medical Services (DFEMS), you will use your data analysis skills to support departmental process and policy decisions. You will collect, analyze, and maintain data to create reports identifying trends. The work you do will ensure data accuracy.


Essential Duties

• Prepare reports measuring DFEMS performance and initiatives. Identify data trends and patterns to support process and policy decisions.
• Analyze and maintain data from reporting platforms utilized by DFEMS.
• Respond to requests for data analysis and information from internal and external agencies.
• Audit records management system data. Identify and correct errors; send monthly audit reports.
• Interface with the Department of Emergency Management & Communications and its entities for data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) utilization. Create GIS products specific to data analysis and reporting
• Provide ongoing systems maintenance, including management of applicable software and assurance of data efficiency.
• Support the DFEMS strategic plan and other planning initiatives.
• Serve as administrator for National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS). Coordinate data input, validation, and analysis. Interface with local, state, and federal agencies as required.
• Prepare and provide reports at defined intervals that reflect the emergency response activities and associated response performance indicators for both fire and EMS incidents.
• Serve as the project lead for the agency annual report document and develop, prepare and publish the annual report in cooperation with the agency command staff.
• Serve as a resource to internal and external committees, task forces and work groups providing data and related data analytics in support of projects and initiative for DFEMS .
• Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.

You Might Be a Good Fit If

Education and Experience

• Associate degree or two years of college in a related field
• Four or more years of related experience
• A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• Valid driver's license
• NFPA Standard 1022: Standard for Fire & Emergency Services Analyst Professional Qualifications by Center for Professional Credentialing (CPC) or equivalent (or must obtain within one year of employment)

• Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
• May be required to work outside of standard hours.
• Must meet Carroll County Risk Management driver eligibility requirements
