Laboratory Technician

Job Description We are seeking a Greenhouse Technician to join our team supporting research operations at a four-acre controlled environment facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in greenhouse plant care, experiment support, and data handling and a proven ability to execute breeding and research activities safely and accurately. Schedule & Work Conditions: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM. Rotating weekend work approximately every six weeks. One company-observed holiday worked on a rotational basis. Driving required: No. Special equipment required: N/A. Responsibilities: Perform daily greenhouse plant care including pollination, watering, harvesting, and seed handling for wheat and other crops. Assist with experiments by collecting data, maintaining records, executing lab analysis requests, and communicating logistics with process leads. Support planning and execution of wheat breeding greenhouse experiments, including project requests and experimental data entry. Perform routine greenhouse sanitation, discarding, and general cleaning tasks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to organize and execute diverse pollination projects. Complete other duties as assigned to support safe and compliant operations. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant physiology, molecular biology, entomology, plant pathology, or related field. Three or more years of related experience may substitute. Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety/ergonomics protocols with attention to detail. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Demonstrated leadership is preferred. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to learn internal research software. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs. Willingness to perform repetitive tasks in a warm, humid greenhouse with year-round pollen exposure. Commitment to a strong safety culture and adherence to stringent safety protocols. Preferred Skills: Experience with greenhouse operations in cereal crops, especially wheat breeding. Familiarity with research data systems and experiment documentation. Why BCforward?
