Payroll Coordinator

BASIC FUNCTION: The Payroll Coordinator will assist in the processing of biweekly payroll for approximately 650 employees located in eight San Diego facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Coordinate with department managers and supervisors to ensure employees' timesheets are accurate and approved within strict deadlines.
- Calculate gross-to-net payroll. Review for accuracy and compliance.
- Update employee payroll records for voluntary deductions and wage assignments.
- Prepare onsite final checks for terminated employees.
- Prepare CA EDD UI benefit audits.
- Collaborate with Human Resources department to ensure accuracy of all HRIS data.
- Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Generate and extract information from HRIS system for payroll reporting and other payroll related data.
- Participate in quarter-end and year-end activities including W2 reconciliations.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Proficient knowledge of all aspects of payroll including taxable and non-taxable compensation, imputed income, pre and post-tax deductions, garnishments, shift premiums, paid-time off accruals, meal penalties, and 403B retirement plans.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well independently and is a self-starter.
- Commitment to attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment.
- Associate's degree or equivalent education, training and experience.
- 3+ years' experience in high volume payroll processing with strong knowledge of payroll regulations.
- Experience in working with sophisticated HRIS system. Ceridian Dayforce a plus!
- Experience with non-profit organizations, senior living facilities, and managed care, a plus.
