Equipment Maintenance Technician

Position Maintenance Technician Location Sparks, MD Duration 12 Months Hours per Week 40 Employment Type Contract on W2 (Need US Citizens or GC Holders or GC EAD or OPT or EAD or CPT) Shifts C Shift = Friday thru Sunday 6am-6pm (days) B Shift = Monday thru Thursday 6pm-6am (nights) Job Overview Reports directly to Engineering Manager or Production Supervisor. Performs routine set up, operation, minor and major routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting of highly complex/automated manufacturing equipment. Responsibilities include production, quality, downtime, and waste levels of machine operation. Job Responsibilities Perform mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance (including preventive repairs, adjustments, inspection, and monitoring) of production and/or facilities related equipment and machinery. Use judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot, and problem solve in performance of all maintenance tasks. Prioritize daily work assignments to meet production needs and department goals. Responsible for preventive maintenance scheduling, completion of work orders and tasks as assigned. Support installation and removal of equipment and perform required corrective maintenance. Maintain consistent presence in production departments. Monitor the production lines and proactively evaluate equipment performance for repairs and continuous improvement. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude to complete changeover of equipment and some operator level preventive maintenance. Assist with root‑cause analysis activities for process or product exceptions. Check work using prescribed gauges, jig and fixtures to measure close tolerances. Ensure accurate documentation of all relevant quality, safety, and maintenance documents. Organize, execute, and direct improvement projects to increase equipment utilization. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues associated with machine performance and/or product quality. Advise on proper content of PM task list and frequency of execution. Assist with the installation, debug, and start‑up of all new or modified production equipment. Work with general supervision. Work with external contractors and vendors as needed. Follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Follow all client housekeeping policies and procedures. Follow all client safety policies and procedures. Work overtime as required to meet client business requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in a relevant field. High School Diploma or GED with 4 years relevant experience required. Relevant fields: Electrical / Electronics Technician, Electromechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Industrial Programmer, Electrician, Machine Builder / Repairer, Machinist, Refrigeration Mechanic, Welding Repairer. Knowledge & Basic Skills Time management skills to ensure all tasks are completed without delay. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with various teams. Mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical skills to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment and machinery. Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications. Flexible and adaptable in working with various equipment, processes, projects, or assignments. Understanding and use of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments. Constant mental and visual attention performing moderately complex work requiring close limits of accuracy and tolerances. Knowledge areas: PC use including MS Excel & MS Word; mechanical aptitude; electrical aptitude; hydraulics and pneumatics aptitude; multimeter usage; sensor technology; basic plumbing (fluid and pneumatic); power transmission (gear box, motors, belt, and chain drives); basic machining; electrical troubleshooting of circuits from low level signals up to 480 VAC. Additional Experience Preferred Troubleshooting of Industrial Control Systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, VFD, servo, etc.). Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems. Mechanical design (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.). SAP maintenance module or equivalent computerized system (welding). Basic skills in use of mill, lathe, welding, bearing press. #J-18808-Ljbffr
