River Market Community Co-op is hiring a Full Time Cashier!Experience-based pay ranging from: $17.75 - $19.06 per hourExpected hours: 30-40 hours per week, based on candidate availability. Must have availability to work weekends. Candidates without availability to work weekends will not be considered.Work for a community-owned grocery store in downtown Stillwater and help support a sustainable local food system. As a Cashier, you play a pivotal part in the customer experience - the first person customers see when they enter our store, and the last person they see when they leave. You will interact with a variety of shoppers and join a great team of experienced Cashiers. You will process transactions, address customer questions, and maintain a clean and organized store. Your experience is rewarded by advanced placement on our starting wage scale.Union positionReports to: Customer Service ManagerProvide prompt, friendly, courteous customer service, accurate cashiering and cash handling, store security and smooth store operations.Answer customer questions about products or services in a friendly, helpful, timely and accurate manner or refer unsolved questions or problems to appropriate staff.Promote ownership in an accurate, enthusiastic manner.Maximize efficient check-out techniques, bagging groceries while customer writes check, memorizing specials.Maintain adequate change denominations in the cash drawer and request additional change when needed.Maintain Front End department and entryways ensuring they remain clean and orderly.Keep outside walkways, loading dock and sidewalks clear of snow and ice. Shovel and salt as needed.Take initiative to stock, face, clean and organize register area when there are no customers to be checked out.Assist other departments in non-cashiering tasks as needed without interfering with customer service at the checkout.RequirementsExcellent communication skillsA desire to serve customers with kindness and grace.Basic arithmetic proficiency including counting, addition and subtractionExperience with POS systems preferredExperience with and knowledge of natural foods preferredRepetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulationWork weekends and evenings on a regular basisESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS: Must be physically able to occasionally grasp, grip, pull, push, twist, and turn as needed.
