Position Summary The Product Portfolio Manager I directs a comprehensive product strategy from product conception through the entire life cycle for one or more product lines typically within a single region within a division of a product group. This role is responsible for defining product vision and strategy, owning the product roadmap, discovering and validating user needs, and working cross-functionally to deliver best-in-class products that meet business goals. This role balances customer needs, data-driven decision-making, and strong execution skills to drive product adoption, engagement, and growth. Accountable for driving sales and margin growth of one or more, mid-size product portfolios, typically in divisions (greater than $250 million in annual sales). This role requires strong leadership, drive and ability to guide and influence externally and internally within a matrixed organization. Actively leads cross functional teams including engineering, supply chain, sales and production to manage entire product life cycle and maintain customer satisfaction and business objectives. Tracks key business performance indicators to identify and execute necessary countermeasures to achieving business/market goals to overcome obstacles or changes in market dynamics. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Directs a comprehensive strategy for complex / multiple product lines (product, promotion, pricing, and channel) for a defined portfolio of products to drive sales and margin expansion including the following attributes: Leads a multi-generational product roadmap development process in line with division strategic/operating plans Is fully integrated in the Winovation stage gate process to supports innovative concept ideas in formulating new product development processes. Defines customer requirements/needs and government & regulatory standards Collaborated to help shape future state Global Product Platforms Manages the product life cycles of the product portfolio Ownership for Product Simplification portion of POP (Parker Operating Protocol) Product end-of-life cycle (obsolescence) Application of PLS principles to product development & launch Support Simple by Design Participates in the development and implementation of appropriate response strategies. - Develops and leads IME strategies (existing product innovations/modifications/extensions). Develops product value propositions and be accountable for new product launches Investigates market needs for innovative products and works with Engineering to appropriately prioritize product development efforts for an assigned product line or multiple product lines Promotes the use of new technologies and industry-leading trends Collaborates with engineering, design, marketing, sales and customer feedback to identify opportunities and validate potential product solutions; May serve as lead on developing potential product solutions Monitors sales and margin results and tracks and recommends appropriate actions. Breaks down competing product lines, market position, and competitive entry threats Conducts market research through trade associations, internet investigation and corporate services. Qualifications Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Business discipline. MBA desired. Minimum eight (8) years product management experience required engineering or commercial functions in related industry preferred Minimum six (6) years of managerial / leadership experience managing product portfolios Demonstrated experience owning product lifecycle from design concept, validation, launch, and production and end-of-life Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Applications, Salesforce) Strong verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical skills Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities using effective problem solving / resolution skills and a team focus Travel up to 25% Additional Comments The essential functions have been provided as example of the type of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.
