Your Impact:  

Pearce from CBRE is seeking an Entry-Level Electronics Technician (UPS Field Engineer) to support customers throughout DFW and the surrounding region.

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates of technical or career schools, transitioning service members, and military veterans who want to build a long-term career in critical power and field service.

Previous UPS field service experience is not required. Pearce will provide hands-on training, technical development, and field experience under the guidance of experienced technicians.

In this role, you will learn to inspect, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, power distribution units, and related mission-critical equipment. These systems support essential operations within data centers, telecommunications facilities, healthcare facilities, industrial sites, and government installations.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electronics or electrical theory, enjoys troubleshooting equipment, works safely, and is ready to learn.

Core Responsibilities

• Complete company-provided classroom, safety, equipment, and hands-on field training.
• Assist experienced technicians with preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, inverters, and related equipment.
• Learn to identify and troubleshoot electrical and electronic system faults using schematics, wiring diagrams, test equipment, and manufacturer documentation.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and replacement of UPS systems, batteries, battery monitoring systems, and related critical power equipment.
• Perform visual inspections, collect equipment readings, document findings, and report potential problems to senior technicians.
• Learn to use multimeters, battery testing equipment, and other electronic diagnostic tools safely and correctly.
• Assist with battery testing, battery replacement, equipment cleaning, and routine maintenance activities.
• Accurately complete service reports, maintenance records, timekeeping, and other required documentation.
• Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, dispatchers, and other field technicians.
• Follow OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety procedures, and customer site requirements.
• Maintain assigned tools, test equipment, safety gear, and company vehicles.
• Participate in ongoing technical training and work toward the ability to complete service assignments independently.
• Support additional field service activities as business and customer needs evolve.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic understanding of electronics, electrical systems, AC/DC theory, mechanical systems, or electronic troubleshooting gained through one or more of the following:
• Technical or career school training
• Community college coursework
• Apprenticeship or certificate program
• Military technical training
• Hands-on work, laboratory, or field experience
• Ability to read or learn to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
• Basic experience using hand tools and electronic test equipment, including a digital multimeter.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
• Willingness to learn from experienced technicians, accept feedback, and complete required training.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
• Professional communication and customer-service skills.
• Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic service reports.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to travel throughout the assigned service territory, including occasional overnight travel.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after completing the required training and demonstrating technical readiness.

Physical/Work Environment:

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to meet company vehicle requirements.
• Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings, including a drug screening and background check, where applicable.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or move equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
• Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, and work in confined or restricted-access areas.
• Ability to work safely around energized electrical equipment and within mission-critical customer environments.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods while maintaining attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced field environments while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned service territory, including overnight and multi-day travel as business needs require. Per diem is provided for qualifying travel.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to customer emergencies when required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance and access to customer facilities, including data centers, telecommunications sites, healthcare facilities, industrial locations, and government installations.

Base Pay Range

$25—$35 USD
