Maintenance Technician

Job Details Job Location: Century Casegoods Plant 1 - Hickory, NC 28601 Position Type: Full Time Job Shift: Day Summary Job Description This position is responsible for the repairing and maintaining of machinery and facilities, both interior and exterior. Some examples would be, electric motors, pneumatic lines, hydraulic lines, conveyor systems, various furniture production equipment, electrical systems, rooftop and ground level dust system components, water lines, minor plumbing and various other plant related maintenance. Essential Duties Provide or assist in the repairs and maintenance of facility machinery and utilities. Observes equipment in operation and determines the need for repairs. Disassemble equipment as necessary to allow for proper repairs. Examines and verifies that new components are acceptable for use on equipment. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control mechanisms to assure proper equipment function. Cleans, lubricates, and provides preventive maintenance to equipment per factory and company standards. Operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking equipment to make and repair parts as needed. Knowledgeable and experienced on both power and hand tools Assists in repairs to electrical equipment Must follow all safety policies and procedures Carry out all essential duties required in the Maintenance Department daily. QualificationsPosition Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred Previous maintenance experience required Must be able to use equipment manuals and drawings to diagnose and make needed repairs on equipment and systems. Vocational or trade school training in any maintenance field is a plus The applicant must possess the ability to work without supervision and be a self-motivator once direction or goal is given. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of walking and standing and performing repetitive tasks While standing, position will require bending, squatting, kneeling and twisting Must be able to work in noisy environments Must have manual dexterity to operate tools as directed Frequently lifting/carrying objects up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lifting/carrying objects up to 100 lbs.
