Collections Specialist

The Collections Clerk is responsible for managing a large portfolio of industrial and manufacturing accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables. This role involves executing collection strategies, resolving billing discrepancies, maintaining client relationships, and collaborating with internal teams in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in high-volume collections and demonstrates a consistent work history. Responsibilities:

• Monitor assigned accounts daily to identify outstanding receivables.
• Execute collection strategies to drive timely payments.
• Manage a high-volume portfolio of 1500+ accounts.
• Contact customers via calls and correspondence to resolve overdue balances.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, and disputes.
• Collaborate closely with Sales and management to accelerate collections.
• Apply customer payments accurately and assist with cash application research.
• Process credit card, e-check payments, and refunds.
• Maintain detailed records of collection activity and account status.
• Prepare and present regular reports on collection progress.
• Reduce delinquency levels within assigned accounts.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• 3 5 years of high-volume collections experience (1500+ accounts), specifically within industrial or manufacturing industries.
• Proven track record as a Collections Specialist or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of collection techniques and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Consistent employment history with minimal job gaps or frequent job changes.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Experience with ERP/collection systems such as CMS/RMS, InfoPro, Soft-Pak.
• Familiarity with standard office equipment (phone, computer, copier, etc.).

• Industry experience in industrial/manufacturing collections is mandatory.
• Local candidates preferred due to commute considerations; long commutes from Brooklyn or Queens are discouraged.
• Candidates with unstable work history or frequent job changes will not be considered.

• Position duration is 4 months.
• Based in West Babylon, NY; standard business hours implied.
