High School Math Teacher

Online Secondary Math Teacher Part-Time Position

Idaho Home Learning Academy (IHLA) is seeking innovative high school instructors to teach online. This position is half-time, and teachers work remotely. Secondary instructors facilitate a customized learning experience for students in grades 9 through 12. Applicants must be willing to learn new software programs, build strong relationships with students, and develop online teaching skills. Instruction may be delivered from your own home or any location with reliable internet access. Employees are responsible for maintaining adequate internet bandwidth to operate Zoom and other online platforms. Hours for this half-time position are flexible, but substantial daytime availability is required between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time, including for required scheduled meetings such as IEP and 504 meetings, and every effort should be made to respond to students quickly. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. A degree specifically in education is not required, but preference will be given to applicants who reside in Idaho and hold a current teaching credential earned through an accredited certification program. Applicants who have a qualifying bachelor's degree but not a teaching license must be willing to pursue licensure through the ABCTE program (an alternate route to teaching), with support from the district. Employees may not hold a certified teaching contract with another school district, private school, or public charter school while employed at IHLA. Compensation & Benefits: Salary is placed on IHLA's board-approved salary schedule based on education and verified experience; see the General Education Teacher Salary Schedule. This is a.5 contract (an estimated minimum of 17 hours per week). This position is not benefits-eligible. Background Check & Work Eligibility: All new hires must pass a job-related background check, including fingerprinting (at the employee's expense), and submit it within 5 days of hire. We are seeking teachers with the following experience and abilities:

• Strong technology skills, especially with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Calendar at minimum)

• Demonstrated understanding of a variety of math levels and a willingness to work with students across a range of mathematical abilities

• Demonstrated ability to relate positively to parents as well as students
• Demonstrated knowledge of math content and math pedagogy

We offer Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2, Integrated Math 3, Consumer Math, and Digital Literacy (taught by math teachers), but this course list is subject to change.

Grading & Communication Expectations:

• Grade all student submissions, including quality feedback, within 72 hours (3 school days) of submission, Monday-Friday.
• Respond to all emails and phone calls within 24 hours (one school day) during the school week. Weekend and holiday responses are not expected.
• Provide a minimum of three hours of student meeting availability across at least two separate days each week, managed through the Google Calendar Scheduling tool, with all availability falling between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time. Students must be able to schedule meetings with at least 24 hours' notice.
• A set weekly office hour is optional but encouraged.

Other Requirements for Employment:

• Attend weekly staff and department (PLC) meetings, as well as meetings for students requiring IEP or 504 accommodations.
• Attend weekly required staff meetings via Zoom each Tuesday at 1:00.
• Follow all FERPA rules and regulations.
• Uphold and enforce IHLA's Academic Honesty policy.
• Adhere to the Code of Ethics for Idaho Professional Educators in all professional interactions.
• Comply with Idaho's mandatory child abuse reporting requirements.
• Post a weekly course update and take attendance each week per IHLA's LMS and attendance procedures.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

• Complete all grading within the 72-hour timeframe outlined above.
• Support the mastery-based instructional program through both asynchronous and synchronous instruction.
• Review curriculum and collaborate with teachers, parents, and students on approaches to delivering and accessing content.
• Provide detailed feedback on all student work and monitor assignment completion.
• Create a weekly update video that describes student expectations for the week and shares resources.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers to help all students progress successfully through the program.
• Communicate regularly with parents and students by email and phone.
• Keep records up to date, including grading, contact logs, and attendance reporting.
