We are looking for an Automation Engineer to join our growing engineering team and contribute to the design, development, integration, and commissioning of custom automation systems.

About the Role

The Automation Engineer will work across multiple engineering disciplines to take automation projects from concept through design, build, testing, installation, and commissioning.

This is a hands-on, multidisciplinary engineering position . Rather than working within only one narrow specialty, our Automation Engineers are expected to develop broad knowledge across automation technologies while building deeper expertise in one or more specialty areas.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex problems, learning new technologies, working directly with equipment, and seeing projects progress from an initial concept to a functioning production system.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom industrial automation systems.
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, controls, and industrial communication systems.
• Integrate industrial robots, motion-control systems, sensors, actuators, and safety systems.
• Support electrical design, component selection, schematics, panel design, and system wiring.
• Support mechanical system design, fixtures, tooling, machine layouts, and component selection.
• Select and integrate industrial cameras, lenses, lighting, 2D/3D vision sensors, and other inspection hardware.
• Perform system integration across electrical, mechanical, controls, robotics, vision, and software components.
• Participate in equipment assembly, system build, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Develop and execute engineering tests and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
• Install and commission systems at customer facilities.
• Troubleshoot equipment and provide technical support during startup and production.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation.
• Participate in design reviews, technical risk assessments, and project planning.
• Work closely with Solutions Engineers developing software, computer vision, AI, and data components.
• Help develop reusable engineering standards, designs, code, and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with industrial automation, controls, robotics, machine building, or system integration.
• Understanding of PLCs, industrial controls, sensors, motors, and automation equipment.
• Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working hands-on with industrial equipment.
• Ability and willingness to learn technologies outside of your primary engineering specialty.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a project-based environment.
• Willingness to travel to customer facilities for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and support.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

• PLC and HMI programming
• FANUC, Universal Robots, or other industrial robotics
• Servo and motion-control systems
• Industrial machine vision
• Cognex, SICK, Keyence, Teledyne DALSA, or similar vision technologies
• Electrical controls and panel design
• Mechanical design and CAD
• Industrial networking and communication protocols
• Machine safety systems
• 2D/3D vision systems
• Automated inspection or quality-control systems
• Manufacturing equipment integration
• Factory Acceptance Testing and field commissioning

Candidates are not expected to be experts in every area . We value engineers who have strong fundamentals, demonstrated expertise in one or more automation disciplines, and the ability and desire to expand their capabilities across the broader automation field.
