This role applies core engineering principles and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate and optimize product performance.Key responsibilities include performing machine design analyses—covering force, stress, and deflection—and developing components that meet structural and functional requirements. The engineer must have a strong understanding of mechanical component design, including rolling element bearings, bushings, cams, helical worm gear drives, and bolted joints or connections. This position requires both analytical rigor and practical design insight to ensure reliable, manufacturable, and high‑quality products.Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient in SolidWorks 3-D design software or equivalent and experience performing Finite Element AnalysisAble to apply engineering principles to develop component and simple system designs to meet specificationsFamiliar with various molding technologies including investment casting, die casting, injection molding and sand castingAble to develop an accurate project planEffective written and verbal communicationDuties and Responsibilities: Work with cross functional teams to develop new products and conduct design reviewsProduct engineering activities: troubleshooting performance issues, root cause analysis, and product design enhancementsProject planning and implementation using MS Project or similar toolsUse SolidWorks 3-D software to build solid models and create cross-sectional layouts. Able to perform tolerance stack-up analysis, and apply GD&TDevelop product test plans, identify instrumentation and measurements required, and perform testing to validate new product designsMust understand fundamental manufacturing processes for wrought and cast, gray and ductile iron, steel, stainless steel, bronze, aluminum, and plasticsPerform analysis of design and performance data resulting from R&D testingProvide technical assistance to customers, suppliers, and internal groups: Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Field Service, Purchasing, and Quality ControlAssure integrity of issued drawings, Bills of Material, and applicable engineering specifications such as ASTM, AISI, ANSI B31.1, API-675, and ANSI/HI 6.6Obtain approvals as required with respect to certifying and regulatory agencies (UL, CSA, CE, NSF, ATEX)Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Applies critical reasoning to making decisionsCoaches lower-level product design engineersPerform other duties as assignedTravel: Limited travel may be required Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee for successful performance of the essential functions of this job.
