MarquisIndustrialServices JobDescription InsulationCraftsman/MetalMan–DowandOlinFreeport,Texas Classification Hourly Reportsto ProjectSuperintendent PositionSummary/Objective Theresponsibilitiesoftheindustrialinsulationjourneymanistobeknowledgeableandcompetentintheapplicationofsheetmetal/cladding,cryogenic,andhotserviceinsulationmaterialstopipingsystems,exchangers,furnaces,boilers,tank,vessels,ductworkand/orothermechanicalsystemsinordertohelpcontrolandmaintaintemperaturesandnoisereduction. EssentialFunctions AdherestoallOSHA,MarquisConstructionServices,andDOWsitespecificsafetyrequirementsforapplyinginsulationandcladdingmaterials. Participateinsafetypre-jobauditsandtailgatemeetingswiththeworkcreworprojectteamtocommunicateandreviewallsafetyhazards/safetyrisksandtheprecautionsrequiredtoeliminatethoserisks. Mustparticipateintheprocessoffillingout,reviewing,andsigningallJSA’s,iPlan,iChat,iCard,S&CE/TXOinsulationchecklists,SWPand/oranyotherrequireddocumentationpriortobeginninganyjobtask. Readblueprintsandspecificationtodeterminethescopeofwork:locations,quantities,andsizesofmaterialsrequired. Measure,markandcutinsulationmaterialstorequiredspecificationforcoveringsurfaces,usingtapemeasures,handsaws,knives,andscissors. Fitinsulationaroundobstructionsandshapeinsulatingmaterialandprotectivecovering/claddingasrequired. Determinetheamountsandtypesofinsulationneededand/orrequiredandmethodsofinsulation,basedonfactorssuchaslocation,surfaceshapeandequipmentuse. Installsheetmetal/claddingaroundinsulatedequipmenttoprotectinsulationfromweatherconditionsorphysicaldamage. Apply,remove,andrepairinsulationonindustrialequipment,pipes,ductwork,orothermechanicalsystemssuchasheatexchangers,tanks,andvesselstohelpcontrolnoiseandmaintaintemperatures. Mustbeknowledgeableinthefabricationofsheetmetal/claddingtosupportinstallationinthefield. Willingnesstoworkwithothercrewmemberstoaccomplishtask,supportingand/orhelping. EffectivelycommunicatingwithSupervisors,PeersandSubordinates. Responsibleforcleaningworkarea–removingdebrisandmaterials. AnyotherdutiesasassignedbySupervision. Understandingtheinstallationprocessofbothcryogenicandhotserviceinsulationmaterials. WorkEnvironment Theworkenvironmentcharacteristicsdescribedbelowrepresentthosethatanemployeeencounterswhileperformingtheessentialfunctionsofthisjob. Workingaroundmovingmechanicalparts. Workinginhighprecariousplaces. Exposedtoalltypesofweatherconditions–hot/humid/cold/wet. Workingarounddifferenttypesofchemicals. Workinginhighnoiseareas. Workingnearheatradiantsources. Mustbeableandwillingtofollowallsafetyrulesandregulations. Musthaveallrequiredtools. Musthavereliabletransportation. RequiredQualifications HighSchoolDegreeorequivalent. AbilitytopassHairFollicleTesting. AcceptableBackground. SuccessfullycompleteallDOWSafetyTraining. SuccessfullycompleteallMarquisAssessmentsandTraining. Atleast(4)yearsofpreviousinsulationexperienceinachemicalplantenvironment. Mustbewillingtoworkovertimeandthroughlastminuteschedulechanges.Includingbutnotlimitedto(callouts,OTafter10hrs,weekends,supportingafterhouroperations) PreferredAdditionalQualifications PriorexperiencewithworkingattheDOWFreeportsite NationalCenterforConstructionEducationandResearch’s(NCCER)certificationforIndustrialJourneymanInsulator. Experienceworkingwithscaffolding,insulation,andpainting. Workingcloselywithandoverseeingonoccasionofhelperandlaborpositions.Thepositionwilloccasionallyholdapositionalandexpertiseauthorityofthehelperandlaborerpositions.
