Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our team. This position plays a critical role in underground utility installation and site development by operating excavators efficiently and accurately in coordination with ground crews.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators for trenching, grading, backfilling, and utility installation
- Excavate safely around existing utilities
- Follow grade stakes, lasers, and project plans to maintain proper elevations and slopes
- Work closely with pipe layers and laborers to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience operating excavators in underground utility or heavy civil construction
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes
- Strong understanding of trench safety and excavation practices
- Experience working around live utilities
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required)
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and job site environments
