Library/Media Specialist

Starting Date: Aug 26, 2026 Job Description Organize and evaluate existing facilities, instructional materials, and equipment. Process all materials and equipment purchased for the library/media center. Maintain efficient records of library purchases and circulation of all materials and equipment, including preparation of a complete annual inventory and annual report to be submitted to the principal. Prepare the annual budget, including all library materials and technology requested by department heads and teachers. Develop an efficient system for circulation of instructional materials and equipment to students and faculty, taking necessary steps to ensure minimal loss of availability. Provide a well‑balanced collection to serve students’ educational needs and satisfy their recreational interests. Develop a library/media program that instructs students in the proper use of resources, including orientation in research skills involving the library and the Internet, and stimulates interest in recreational materials available to them. Plan activities or displays that encourage extended use of library resources. Encourage a productive, supervised environment in which students may pursue various educational and recreational activities. Present and discuss materials with a class researching a particular subject area. Develop and maintain a professional library for the use of school staff systemwide, and conduct an active program throughout the year to keep faculty aware of the availability of professional library materials.
