Accountant II

A services organization in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking an Accountant II to focus on payroll reconciliation, variance analysis, and accounting support related to a system conversion.
About the Opportunity:- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: Standard business
- Setting: Hybrid (at least 4 days a week onsite)
- Prepare retroactive payroll adjustment journal entries related to the HCM system conversion
- Analyze payroll variances for on-cycle and off-cycle payroll runs and determine whether adjustments are required
- Research discrepancies, identify root causes, and compile supporting documentation for payroll variances
- Prepare clear workpapers and reconciliations that meet management, audit, and compliance standards
- Partner with cross-functional teams and use advanced Excel tools to support payroll accounting activities
- 3 years of accounting, payroll accounting, payroll analysis, or related experience
- Strong accounting and reconciliation experience
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis
- Experience working in a large corporate environment with high transaction volume
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and determine appropriate accounting treatment independently
- Payroll accounting experience
- Oracle HCM experience
- Experience with reconciliation cleanup or catch-up projects
- Experience resolving outstanding balances and performing variance analysis
- Exposure to GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance
