Certified Surgical Technologist

Job Summary The Certified OR Tech / Surgical Technologist (CST) provides skilled support in surgical services within a Level I or Level II trauma center or large teaching hospital. The role involves assisting in multiple surgical specialties including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Vascular, and Trauma. The CST ensures proper preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment, supports the surgical team during procedures, and adheres to strict safety and sterilization protocols. Strong clinical experience and certification are required to deliver efficient and high-quality patient care. Responsibilities Prepare and maintain the operating room and surgical instruments for procedures. Assist surgeons and surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies. Ensure sterile field and infection control protocols are strictly followed. Support multiple surgical specialties including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Vascular, and Trauma. Maintain accurate documentation and charting using Cerner electronic medical record system. Float to other facilities as required to meet operational needs within scope of practice. Participate in inventory control and equipment maintenance. Required Skills & Certifications Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTA or NCCT, valid in Illinois. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Minimum 3 years of experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center or large teaching hospital. Strong clinical experience in Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Vascular, and Trauma surgical services. Ability to chart accurately using Cerner electronic medical records. Preferred Skills & Certifications Local candidates within a 75-mile radius preferred. Experience working in a Level I Trauma Center environment. Special Considerations Float to other facilities as mandated to support operational needs. No call requirements. Restricted Return To Office (RTO) policy: maximum 5 days with no more than 2 consecutive, no RTO on weekends, holidays, or the day before/after holidays. Must work within scope of practice during float assignments. Scheduling Work schedule consists of five 8-hour shifts, 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm. No block scheduling. Guaranteed 40 hours per week. Weekend work required every other weekend (2 weekends per month). #J-18808-Ljbffr
