Job Details Job Location: Cary, NC 27513 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $151,200.00 - $170,000.00 The Vice President, Operations will direct the development of data strategies and processes to support the V Foundation’s current and future data asset requirements to meet annual and long-term business goals and objectives. This role will work cross-functionally with each department to manage current and implement new administrative, data, and technology systems that drive growth and efficiency. The position will lead a team of at least two direct reports and ten total staff to meet the current and evolving needs of the organization through coaching, mentoring, and performance management. The Vice President, Operations will lead all organizational efforts related to data management, information technology, and analytics to improve internal efficiencies and overall fundraising efforts. Effectively convey data management strategy and the Operations department’s vision to senior leadership and staff. This leader will manage the full integration of third-party IT expertise, including vendor management, support, assessment, and implementation, across functional teams. Cybersecurity and network infrastructure are currently managed through an external provider; this role manages that relationship and will be responsible for assessing its continued effectiveness for the organization. The individual will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement to drive operational effectiveness, while building new data and technology capabilities that advance the V Foundation’s mission. Additionally, the Vice President, Operations will serve as the organization’s primary steward of its physical workspace, overseeing the operation, safety, and maintenance of the V Foundation's headquarters building, and ensuring the office environment supports staff productivity and organizational growth. Establish and maintain data governance standards and policies covering the Operations department and organization-wide data practices to ensure data accuracy, reliability, security, and compliance with applicable privacy regulations. Salary Range: $151,200 - $170,000. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, work location, internal pay equity, as well as market and business considerations. Key Responsibilities and Duties Data Management | 40% Working in collaboration with department leadership, develop a multi-year plan for data management and Operations department functions (e.g., systems development, business process models, and the architecture that supports them), capturing functional data requirements across all departments (Development, Finance, Legal and Human Resources, Operations, Research and Grants, and Marketing) to recommend efficient, department-specific solutions. Lead the development and implementation of new and improved artificial AI capabilities and other emerging technology tools across the organization, serving as the organization’s primary voice on AI strategy and adoption. Oversee the timely and budget-conscious delivery of project objectives, including enhancements to existing systems and development of new applications. Oversee the enterprise Salesforce customer relationship management platform and data and software integrations to maximize fundraising and programmatic impact. Provide strategic oversight of Gifts and Records Administration (Donor Services), in partnership with the Senior Director who leads the function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, timely reporting, and financial reconciliation with Accounting. Provide strategic oversight of stakeholder research, prospect development, and Business Intelligence reporting, in partnership with the Senior Director who leads the function, to inform strategic decisions and support the gift solicitation cycle. Own and manage the Operations department’s budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation to achieve optimal value and impact, in partnership with the role’s reporting executive. Conduct annual trainings for staff on the systems managed by the Operations team. Information Technology | 40% Develop and execute the organization’s IT strategy to meet current needs and anticipated trends. Direct the review, procurement, and implementation of all externally sourced managed IT services and software providers and manage those vendor relationships. Plan, procure, and manage organizational wide software and hardware assets. Oversee technology infrastructure. Ensure that company-wide data integration and all organizational software are secure and compliant with all applicable regulations. Continuously study and evaluate the latest methodologies, emerging technologies, and industry-leading practices, and integrate these insights into the organization’s context, delivering tangible business value and distinctive advantages. Develop all relevant digital and IT-related policies and procedures and conduct annual trainings as needed. Oversee and coordinate maintenance and enhancement work performed by managed IT service providers supporting the organization’s applications. Facilities Management | 20% Oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of the organization's headquarters building, including structural systems. Ensure the building complies with applicable fire, safety, ADA, and local health/building codes; maintain required inspections and certifications. Develop and manage the operating facilities and capital budget, including planning for major repairs, renovations, or system replacements. Oversee building security systems (access control, alarm systems, cameras) and emergency preparedness protocols (fire drills, severe weather plans, business continuity). Manage space planning and office layout to support current staffing and anticipated growth, including workstation allocation and conference/meeting space. Evaluate and implement building-related sustainability or energy-efficiency initiatives. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information technology, or a related field 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in network administration, information systems/CRM, data analytics, prospect research, or fundraising operations. Track record of building enterprise-wide systems and leading cross-functional teams. Proficient understanding of integrating multiple software and data systems, business process mapping, and optimization to improve fundraising performance. Deep expertise in CRM platforms (Salesforce), cloud computing, and enterprise architecture. Significant experience leveraging AI and data analysis tools, and business intelligence platforms, to make data-driven decisions and optimize business processes. Proactive self-starter with strong planning, analytical, and project management skills with the ability to execute complex initiatives. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate data management insights clearly to diverse audiences. Experience mentoring and coaching teams to reach individual and collective potential. Ability to quickly learn and implement new initiatives in a complex organizational environment. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in business administration, information technology, or a related field. Direct experience overseeing Gifts and Records/Donor Services functions, including gift processing, acknowledgment, and revenue reconciliation with Finance/Accounting. Familiarity with prospect research and wealth-screening tools (e.g., DonorSearch, WealthEngine, Windfall). Experience standing up or scaling a business intelligence/reporting function (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to support executive and board-level decision-making. Prior experience serving as an organization’s primary liaison to outsourced/managed IT and cybersecurity providers. Experience developing or implementing an organizational AI strategy or piloting AI tools in a fundraising, data, or operations context.
