Accounting Manager

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee core financial reporting and close activities for a non-profit organization in New York, New York. This role will lead the preparation of monthly financial statements, maintain the integrity of the general ledger, and ensure accurate reconciliations and supporting schedules. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of grant-related accounting, budgeting, and audit support, along with a hands-on approach to managing day-to-day accounting operations.Responsibilities:• Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely completion of financial reporting deliverables.• Prepare recurring financial packages, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and detailed supporting schedules.• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing entries, recording accruals, and ensuring transactions are posted accurately.• Reconcile bank accounts and key balance sheet accounts to verify completeness and resolve discrepancies promptly.• Oversee grant-related accounting activities, including funding tracking, cost allocations, and budget monitoring.• Develop and post journal entries that support accurate period-end reporting and compliance with accounting standards.• Partner with internal stakeholders to produce reliable financial information for management review and decision-making.• Support external audit activities by organizing documentation, responding to requests, and helping ensure a smooth audit process.
