If you're a strategic, tech-savvy accounting professional with startup experience and a passion for building robust financial systems, this is your opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.Key Responsibilities:Lead end-to-end accounting processes, including AP, AR, billing, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and cash management.Manage monthly close cycles, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation in GAAP compliance.Collaborate with external firms on audits, tax filings, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.Optimize and implement accounting software, ERP systems such as NetSuite or QuickBooks, and billing platforms like Stripe or Aleph.Partner with Sales, Legal, and Operations teams on contract management and revenue recognition to ensure seamless workflow.Oversee the management of bespoke client invoices, multi-tiered billing, and collections for a portfolio of Fortune 500 clients.Support strategic financial planning, process improvement, and automation initiatives to scale company growth.Required Skills:7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years managing accounting processes and month-end close.Deep expertise in GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial reporting standards.Proven experience managing ERP and billing platforms such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Ramp, Stripe, or Aleph.Strong operational insight with a hands-on approach to implementing scalable workflows in a startup environment.Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.CPA certification strongly preferred.Nice to Have Skills:Experience in SaaS or subscription-based industries.Familiarity with SaaS billing systems like Rillet or Stripe.Ability to utilize automation tools to streamline financial operations.Preferred Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.7+ years of relevant experience, with substantial leadership in a startup or tech environment.Additional Requirements:Hybrid work model (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) in New York; open to fully remote candidates, especially for temporary roles.High adaptability to a fast-paced, hands-on startup culture where flexibility and initiative are prized.Willingness to work beyond traditional hours during close periods or critical deadlines.Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required.This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the financial backbone of an innovative company at the forefront of its industry.
