A Criminal Attorney provides expert legal representation and counsel to clients facing criminal charges. Working typically within a small legal team of one to three attorneys, this role requires comprehensive case management from initial consultation through to trial and sentencing. The attorney handles all aspects of criminal defense, ensuring client rights are protected through diligent research, preparation, and courtroom advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cases thoroughly for all stages of legal proceedings
• Consult with clients to understand case details and advise on legal options
• Conduct extensive legal research relevant to criminal law
• Represent clients in court hearings and trials
• Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors when appropriate
• Review and analyze evidence to build strong defenses
• Draft legal documents, motions, and briefs
• Develop trial strategies tailored to each case
• Interview witnesses and gather testimonies
• Monitor compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Utilize bilingual Spanish skills to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking clients

Required Qualifications

• Active state license to practice law
• Membership in the state bar association
