Field Service Engineer

2 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants We are seeking a Field Service Engineer for one of our clients in Washington, DC. Job Description: You'll be a key part of a cross-functional team that helps critical institutions solve their most pressing problems. Together with a team of analysts, developers, technical project managers, and systems experts, you will be directly responsible for keeping a Palantir system running smoothly and securely. You'll serve as the team's expert and owner for all things systems administration. You are the first line of defense against a variety of threats to the uptime of your servers. On calm days, you'll proactively keep systems safe and secure through industry best practices, security updates, and Palantir-developed systems automation. When issues arise, you'll monitor alerts and logs to identify problems, triage outages, and work with your team to resolve issues permanently. Key Responsibilities: Administer enterprise Linux servers, including patching, security hardening, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Manage AWS cloud accounts using Terraform, and troubleshoot via AWS Console and CLI. Oversee data storage and indexing systems, including monitoring, backups, and upgrades. Configure and maintain web servers, including monitoring and configuration management. Coordinate with customer IT teams to implement changes and troubleshoot intersystem issues. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field Experience designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters in production Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible) Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI) Excellent communication skills for working with tenants Ability to translate application requirements into Kubernetes configurations Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance is mandatory; work is in person.
