The Patient Care Technician professional assists with patient care to provide support services to the patient, nursing unit, and professional staff. **Your Job Requirements:** • Graduate from a certified Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, or Medical Assistant Program • Or 1 year experience as a nursing assistant in a comparable healthcare facility • Or nursing student who documents completion of the first semester of the nursing program • Or documented military experience as a medic/corpsman • Or foreign nursing graduate not currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the• Or EMT Certification/Paramedic License Experience • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support card required • High school diploma or GED required **Your Job Responsibilities:** • Communicate clearly and openly • Build relationships to promote a collaborative environment • Be accountable for your performance • Always look for ways to improve the patient experience • Take initiative for your professional growth • Be engaged and eager to build a winning team**Additional Job Description:**Category B: Employee with patient care impact. FLSA: Non-exempt **Job Purpose:** Under the Direction of the professional staff, assists with patient care to provide support services to the patient, nursing unit, and professional staff. Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System. Demonstrates understanding of MHD guidelines and reference, Infection Control guidelines, and MHS safety guidelines. Proactive not reactive, analyzes problems accurately, develops recommendations and takes appropriate actions to solve problems. Physical Demands and Work Environment General Activity: Sit: 1/3 to 2/3 of time General Activity: Standing Stationary: 1/3 to 2/3 of time General Activity: Talk: Up to 1/3 of time General Activity: Walking: 1/3 to 2/3 of time Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Allergic Irritants Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Blood and Body Fluids: Category I Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Infectious Diseases Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Respiratory Irritants Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to Skin Irritants Hazardous Conditions: Use of Electrical Equipment Hazardous Conditions: Use of Sharp Utensils Motion: Bend: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Carry: Up to 25 lbs.: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Climb: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Lift: Up to 25 lbs.: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Push/Pull: Up to 100+ lbs.: Up to 1/3 of time Motion: Reach: Up to 1/3 of time Sensory Demands: Hearing Normal Noise Level Sensory Demands: Hearing Occasional Loud Noise Sensory Demands: Vision Essential Use of hands to finger, handle or feel: 2/3 or more of time Work Environment: Works Indoors**Job Roles:** If specially trained to do, performs additional functions for patients, specifically delineated for assigned unit: Lab specimens collected; appropriately labeled, and delivered to lab in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate safety measures to prevent patient and staff injury; Communicates results of selected tests to professional staff in a timely manner; Conforms to safety standards dictated by regulatory agencies i.e. safety manuals, MSD sheets, OSHA issues.- Maintains clean work environment, adequate equipment and supplies: Equipment is kept in good working condition; related supplies are kept clean, and are at desired par levels.- Performs patient care activities delegated and supervised by the professional staff: Activities of daily living such as baths, oral hygiene, and oral feedings performed to satisfaction of patient and professional staff; Patient mobility performed (i.e. turning, lifting, moving) utilizing appropriate safety measures to prevent patient and self-injury; Patient meals and nourishments are offered, administered, and recorded in a timely manner; Assists Nursing staff with admission, discharge, transfer, and transport of patients.- Respond effectively in emergencies and assists in prevention of patient injury: Initiates CPR when appropriate; Utilizes side rails and restraints to prevent patient injury; Reports to professional staff patients at increased risk for injury.- Other duties as assignedMethodist Dallas Medical Center is one of North Texas’ best places to work.
