Lending Advisor - Director The Lending Advisor Generalist is a strategic professional who closely follows the latest trends in the field and adapts them for application within the job and the business. They are a recognised subject‑matter expert within one area, with strong commercial awareness and advanced judgment. They perform in‑depth qualitative or quantitative analysis, develop innovative structures and solutions, and influence technical approaches and strategies across the business. Job Overview Excellent communication skills are required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level, and externally with clients. The role involves advanced judgment, complex analysis, and decision‑making that impacts the function and the business. Responsibilities The candidate is an experienced lending product specialist and credit officer within the Lending Advisory business, with direct client coverage responsibility. They must have strong structuring skills, origination/marketing capabilities, and sound credit judgement, and work with Private Bankers to complete due diligence, underwriting, approvals, and review/closing documentation for new facilities. Marketing and sale of the full product range, including client calling and account planning in partnership with Private Bankers. Understand and anticipate clients’ needs, following up with effective products and financial solutions. Maximise revenue generation while achieving at least minimum return targets, ensuring responsible lending growth. Responsible for appropriate transaction structuring and execution within product programmes, with appropriate risk and return characteristics, ensuring compliance with credit policy and risk acceptance standards. Define, coordinate, and oversee the analytical activities of the deal team. Define and negotiate the transaction and credit framework, including covenant definition. Oversee preparation of credit and capital allocation memos. Oversee the Credit Approval write‑up, for both new deals and annual reviews. Negotiate, obtain, and close credit documentation, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and coordinating with external counsel and Risk Management as required. Assist in early problem recognition, proposing credit classification and risk rating on specific transactions/relationships. Demonstrate strong influence over stakeholders – clients, senior bank staff, Risk, auditors, and other areas – to deliver against budget and ensure processes meet the Bank’s highest standards. Participate in remedial management actions with other internal teams as required. Assess risk in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policies; promote ethical judgement and transparency in managing control issues. Qualifications Extensive experience working in a similar role. Strong and proven analytical, financial structuring and execution skills. Strong marketing and sales skills. Strong knowledge of Citibank’s credit policies, product programmes and internal policies. Good knowledge of financial markets, investments, banking and loan products. Financial and cash‑flow modelling experience. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines. Good negotiation skills. Strong initiative and an interactive approach to problem solving. Displays flexibility and independence in a demanding environment.
