Senior Accountant

Novetus Engineering LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. The role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, thrives in a fast-paced professional services environment, and enjoys improving processes while maintaining accurate financial records. Key Responsibilities General Accounting Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records. Record revenue recognition, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet activity. Support accounting activities across multiple legal entities. Financial Reporting Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close. Prepare financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies. Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors. Support internal controls, accounting procedures, and regulatory filings. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency. Document accounting procedures and participate in finance transformation initiatives. Collaborate with Finance Operations to improve automation, reporting, and data accuracy. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Revenue Operations, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and business leaders to support accurate financial reporting and operational excellence. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA designation preferred but not required. Experience 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong experience with accrual accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close. Experience supporting external audits. Professional services, engineering, consulting, or project accounting experience preferred. Technical Skills Advanced Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and Power Query. Experience with Bill.com, QuickBooks Desktop, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP systems. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, project accounting, and revenue recognition. Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence/reporting tools is a plus. Core Competencies Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial analysis skills.
