Duties Performs in-depth research and causative analysis when discrepancies are identified as a result of physical inventories, warehouse refusals, Reports of Survey or customer complaints. Determines the cause of record imbalances through collection, analysis, and evaluation of factors contributing to the inventory adjustment. Initiates and makes corrective actions to synchronize the depot record with the physical inventory balance. Develops recommendations for new procedures which correct or prevent errors. Gathers data from automated systems to analyze trends of recurring discrepancies. Conducts operational and systemic studies to causes contributing to physical inventory and location inaccuracies and validates data compiled using various ADP systems to resolve record accuracy problems. Identifies and initiates new procedures to reduce inventory record error rate, streamline inventory processes, and comply with agency guidance. Arranges special inventories to reconcile accountable records. Plans, develops schedules for and conducts inventories. May operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and stock selectors to locate and move materials. Qualifications To qualify for a General Supply Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: B. Combination: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for grade levels GS-09 and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. Creditable specialized experience includes: Plans, develop schedules for and conduct inventories. Conduct investigations and analysis to determine causes of inventory discrepancies. Provides recommendations which correct or prevent errors. Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Work Environment Work is usually performed in a warehouse environment or outdoor locations requiring extensive research and analytical skill; Some work will be performed in an office environment.
