Development Manager

Concur Technologies, Inc. seeks a Development Manager at our Allen, TX location to set up and constantly improve a high performing engineering organization with best-in class engineering processes.

Responsibilities and tasks include:

• Supporting the success of direct reports and the larger team by identifying development opportunities and supporting team members to achieve their goals.
• Acting as a coach and mentor to help with personal development.
• Conducting deliverable reviews, providing performance feedback while establishing a safe space for developers to effectively learn and grow.
• Accountable for technical realization of the requirements within the capacity of the engineering team.
• Contributing to change management and driving engineering excellence and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Clarifying implementation approach and plan execution with the engineering team.
• Connecting product vision, goals, and user requirements to organizational goals and helping team members with translation into relatable individual and team goals.
• Partnering with Product Management and User Experience to translate the overall outcome-based roadmap and vision into a product backlog and prioritization in a manner clearly understandable to the development team.
• Performing hands-on technical tasks and responsibilities in addition to team management, coaching, and development.
• Ensuring product requirements, as well as non-functional requirements are built, tested, and maintained.
• Collaborating with Product Management on prioritization of the backlog.
• Owning the technology decisions and resource investments (framework/architecture/tooling).
• Ensuring compliance of software development processes with relevant standards, regulations, and legal requirements.
• Managing 3rd party contractors and suppliers.
• Driving attainment of product and service quality service-level agreements (SLAs).
• Defining and aligning non-functional backlog items with Product Management.
• Identifying and addressing potential delivery risks that may impact the success of the product.
• Ensuring supportability of the product.
• Ensuring service quality is continuously driven via root cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Driving adherence to support metrics and ensuring 24/7 support.

Education and occupational experience:

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field of study and seven (7) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field of study and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

Experience must include five (5) years involving each of the following: Software architecture and implementation; Managing Customer incidents, escalations, and conflicts; AWS Cloud Native Technologies Applications; Agile Practices; Java, Kotlin, or Go programming language; Automation and Performance testing applications and services; Production support of mission critical applications; and Architecture Modeling, Documentation, and Pattern Applications.
