As a Data Product Owner (DPO), you'll be the heartbeat of your agile team(s), turning business intent into actionable stories and ensuring every sprint delivers meaningful impact. You will help shape the future of Global Specialty's Data Modernization journey by partnering with business, technology, and data teams to define and deliver cloud-based data products. These products will power analytics, reporting, operational decision-making, digital experiences, and future AI-enabled capabilities. This is more than a backlog role—it's an opportunity to influence how data is leveraged across the enterprise while helping build a modern cloud-based data ecosystem. How You'll Deliver Value Data Product Delivery & Execution Lead day-to-day agile product execution for one or more agile teams supporting Data Modernization initiatives. Translate data product vision and modernization objectives into sprint goals, prioritized stories, and measurable outcomes. Manage the data product backlog, ensuring clarity, readiness, and alignment to business value. Break down features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria and definition of done. Partner with engineering and architecture teams to define and deliver cloud-based data products and capabilities. Help identify and prioritize opportunities related to data quality, accessibility, usability, and scalability. Accept completed stories and validate that delivered solutions meet expectations and create business value. Data Consumer & Business Alignment Be the voice of the customer, business, and data consumer within the agile team(s). Partner with Agile Product Managers, business leaders, and stakeholders to refine priorities and roadmap objectives. Understand how business processes generate, consume, and depend upon data across the enterprise. Ensure backlog items reflect business needs, customer outcomes, modernization goals, and technical feasibility. Partner with stakeholders to define data product requirements, success measures, and adoption goals. Continuously gather feedback from demonstrations and stakeholders to inform future iterations. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with Scrum Masters, Architects, Tech Leads, Data Engineers, Analysts, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery readiness. Engage with SMEs and business partners to clarify requirements and drive shared understanding. Facilitate discussions to align on data definitions, ownership, business context, and expected outcomes. Cascade updates and decisions to teams and stakeholders with clarity and purpose. Partner with Data Steward to create and maintain product documentation, business definitions and requirements to ensure transparency and effective adoption of data products. Change Enablement & Readiness Support business readiness and change management activities tied to new data products and capabilities. Monitor delivery metrics, product outcomes, and team health to identify improvement opportunities. Support adoption by helping stakeholders understand the value and impact of delivered data products. Help the team stay aligned to OKRs, modernization objectives, and value stream goals. Success in This Role Connect business objectives to data product investments. Build trusted relationships across business and technology teams. Bring clarity and structure to complex data-related challenges. Deliver data products that improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and customer experiences. Balance immediate business needs with long-term modernization goals. Qualifications2+ years of experience in a product owner, business analyst, digital, technology, or related role. Experience supporting data-focused initiatives, reporting, analytics, or modernization programs is beneficial but not required. Analytical mindset with comfort using data to inform decisions and validate outcomes. Fluency and Acumen: Familiarity with Agile frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP) and tools such as JIRA, Rally, and Microsoft products. Foundational understanding of data concepts such as data flows, data products, analytics, reporting, and cloud-based data platforms. Exposure to technologies such as Snowflake, business intelligence platforms, or cloud ecosystems is helpful, but deep technical expertise is not required. Self-motivated and energetic with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results. Collaboration Mindset: Strong partnership and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively across business, technology, and data teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences. WORK ARRANGEMENT: This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our office locations have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. CompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
