Program Director - Piano Technician - (495996 )

The college is looking for a Program Director 1 or 2, depending on experience and qualifications. Program Director 1 Description Directs an ongoing university program to ensure that prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with its mission and/or specified objectives. Prepares short- and long-term goals and objectives. Plans, develops and administers methods, strategies and procedures for meeting program objectives; directs and oversees the daily activities of staff members. Prepares and monitors the annual budget and ensures that expenditures are within budget allocation. Directs and coordinates personally, or through subordinate personnel, activities concerned with carrying out the objectives of the program. Directs the preparation of and reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished towards specified program objectives; modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attain objectives. Analyzes trends within program areas, maintaining expert awareness of program information and change needs. Formulates, implements, and maintains appropriate policies and procedures concerning program administration. Manages and administers grant for program, including meetings, communication coordination, scholarships and other operations. May prepare or participate in the preparation of proposals to obtain grants from state and federal agencies, and private foundation sponsors. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Salary : 56,800 - 64,600 MQ (Minimum Qualifications): Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Program Director 2 Description Responsible for the operations of a large program or center at the university. Oversees staff, budgets, and projects. Oversees a large department, program or center. Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met. Hires and directs the activities of staff. Resolves personnel issues as they arise. Engages in budget‑planning, grant oversight, and policy development. Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center. Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed. Represents department or center to internal and external constituents. Performs other job‑related duties as required. Salary : 65,300 - 74,300 MQ (Minimum Qualifications): Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Additional Responsibilities Responsible for the overall condition and performance of all pianos, harpsichords, celestas and autoharps within and owned by University of Houston's Moores School of Music. Coordinates the transportation of pianos for all off‑site concerts and recitals. Responsible for the overall condition and performance of all pianos, harpsichords, celestas and autoharps within and owned by the Moores School of Music. Performs regular tuning and maintenance of practice room, studio and concert pianos and maintains them at international quality standards. Diagnoses problems, conducts minor repairs and performs routine rebuilding as needed. Does special tunings and emergency repairs prior to and during recitals and concerts sponsored by the School of Music during the day, evening and weekends. Provides recommendations to the Director on the budgetary and purchasing decisions of instrument inventory, tuning and maintenance. Maintains inventory of parts and supplies required for piano maintenance and provides periodic reports on inventory as needed. Coordinates the transportation of piano moves for all off‑site concerts and recitals away from the Moores School of Music. Interprets UH policies and procedures and provides expert knowledge to faculty, staff and interns on basic piano technology, skills and practices. Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
