Clinical Secretary

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Clinical Secretary, you will provide essential non-clinical support and comfort to patients and staff, assisting other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse.

Every day you will support daily unit operations by assisting with patient comfort needs, transporting patients, performing light cleaning, stocking supplies, and relaying messages to nurses to ensure an organized environment.

To be successful in this role, you will exhibit a helpful, compassionate demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining unit efficiency and team support within a dynamic healthcare setting.
  • Schedules patient appointments, which include initial, recheck, pre-op, radiology, lab, etc. Updates schedule changes and performs necessary rescheduling of patients. Prints and distributes daily schedule
  • Maintains medical records which includes requesting records as needed and retrieving records, documents and correspondence in a timely manner
  • Contacts and reschedules clients that have DNKA'd their appointment via phone or letter
  • Answers telephones which includes routing incoming calls, as appropriate, and documenting accurately telephone messages for departments
  • Follows computer system and departmental operational procedures and training guidelines to obtain accurate demographic and insurance information on each registration, as monitored by established QA procedures
  • Registers patients accurately, efficiently and professionally to insure database integrity and facilitates claims processing
Job Requirements

Required
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace and medical terminology
Preferred
  • Hospital or Physician office experience
