PATIENT INFORMATION
  • Average Daily Volume: 52 patients per day
  • Case Mix: Consistent with critical access hospital ED including medical, surgical, OB/GYN, cardiology, urology, behavioral health, infusion center, wound care
FACILITY INFORMATION
  • No. of Beds in Department: 8 ED beds (6 main + 2 fast track)
  • EMR System: EPIC
  • Specialty Backup Available: Yes, various specialties available (cardiology, urology, OB/GYN, etc.)
  • Support Staff Available: Physicians, NPs, PAs, and nursing staff
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
  • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
  • Sedation management (completion of sedation modules required)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Board: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
  • Licenses: Active unrestricted LA Medical License, DEA License w/ LA address, LA Controlled Substance & Supervising Physician License
  • DEA / CDS: Active DEA and CDS required
  • Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS, BLS (ATLS, ACLS, PALS may be waived if BC in EM)
  • Experience: Residency trained in EM, FM, or IM; new graduates accepted
  • Other Qualifications: Documentation of case logs for past 2 years; proof of CMEs for last 2 years, including 10 hours of Trauma/Stroke CMEs annually; completion of sedation modules; meet supervising physician requirements for NP/PA oversight; immunization compliance (Flu, TB, Covid)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide 24-hour physician coverage in the Emergency Department
  • Manage and treat patients with acute medical, surgical, and emergency conditions
  • Supervise and collaborate with NP/PA staff
  • Perform required procedures including sedation management
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital policies
